    Salesforce in Claude, an add-on with 37 ready-made sales skills, can read live customer records, update deals in progress and take actions in Salesforce from Claude. Salesforce says it is with a small group of test customers now, with a wider test expected in September.

    Why it matters: Once it opens up, a business that keeps its customer list in Salesforce could ask Claude about a customer instead of clicking through screens.

    In an open letter, OpenAI, Anthropic and more than 100 other groups, Google and Microsoft among them, said AI will be used for more, and more complicated, cyberattacks in the months ahead. They asked businesses to make defense a priority and fix weak spots they already have.

    Why it matters: For a small shop, fixing weak spots starts with the basics: keep software updated and turn on two-step sign-in for email and payment apps.
