Anthropic lowers its top model's price; Instagram labels AI people

Anthropic says its new top model costs less per job, and Instagram limits unlabeled accounts that feature AI-made people.

Rules and prices

Laws, rulings and price changes that affect which AI tools you can use or what you pay.

  • Anthropic says its new top Claude model costs a quarter less

Anthropic released a new top Claude model. It says the model costs an estimated 25% less than the last one for typical work that is billed by use, and up to about 45% less for long, multistep jobs.

Why it matters: If you or the person who builds your tools pays for Claude by use, the same work now costs less.

  • Instagram cuts the reach of unlabeled AI-made profiles

Instagram renamed its label to "AI-generated profile" and will limit the reach of accounts that feature an AI-made person without it. Using AI to edit photos, polish captions or make graphics doesn't need the label.

Why it matters: Using AI on your photos and captions is fine, and only a made-up AI person as the face of your account needs the label.
