Anthropic's new app asks before it sends or pays

Anthropic's new app asks before it pays, and Reuters says banks are blocking assistants inside customer accounts.

Models and products

New AI tools and features, and AI arriving in apps you already use.

  • 1Password says an assistant can sign in only after you approve

1Password says Individual and Family accounts on 1Password.com get the tool at no additional cost, and accounts on 1Password.eu or 1Password.ca are not supported. You approve a login, the assistant does not see the password, and the Muse link is rolling out and the Claude Duet link is not ready.

Why it matters: If you let an assistant into a site you use for invoices or scheduling, 1Password says you approve the login and the assistant does not see the password.

  • Anthropic opens a US waitlist for an assistant that asks first

Anthropic says Claude Duet is a new app for small business owners, on a US waitlist for Pro and Max plans, on phones and the Claude website. It can send a morning note or draft an unpaid-invoice reminder, and it asks before it sends, pays, or deletes anything.

Why it matters: A US Pro or Max subscriber can join the waitlist and get an email when the app is ready, and the app can draft a QuickBooks invoice reminder and waits before it sends or pays.

  • Jobholler says an assistant can catch a missed contractor call

Jobholler says HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and roofing shops can forward missed calls, keep their number, and get an email with the caller's name, number, address, problem, and urgency. Jobholler says it answers under the shop's name, the starter plan is $85 a month, and a three-day trial is free.

Why it matters: If missed calls are lost quotes, Jobholler says this answers after hours under your shop name and emails the job details, starting at $85 a month.

  • Reuters says banks are blocking assistants inside customer accounts

Reuters says major US banks are blocking assistants from customer accounts and transactions after a report that some acted on their own, and a person familiar with the matter said Morgan Stanley has blocked them without seeing a rogue assistant.

Why it matters: If you shared a bank login with an assistant, a banking source told Reuters that banks typically block the transaction.
