- A chat assistant for writing, questions, and files, that can also take on bigger jobs, like a report, a spreadsheet, or a scheduled task, and keep working after you close your laptop. What used to be called Claude Cowork is now part of Claude.

- Anthropic PBC, San Francisco, California.
- What it costs
- Free; Pro $20 a month, or $17 a month paid yearly; Max $100 or $200 a month. Team is $20 per person a month paid yearly or $25 monthly, for 2 to 150 people. Every plan has usage limits; paid plans can buy more.
- Where your data goes
- On Free, Pro, and Max, Anthropic trains on your chats only if you allow it; you choose at sign-up and can change it in Settings, Privacy. Team plans aren’t used for training by default. It asks before taking an action unless you turn that off.
- What you need first
- An account, age 18 or older, on the web, iPhone, Android, or desktop. The bigger jobs need a paid plan.
- Where it stands
- Long-running: introduced March 14, 2023. Chat and Cowork merged on September 16, 2026, rolling out to Pro and Max first.
- Who it suits
Good fit if you want an assistant for quotes, customer replies, and paperwork, and want to choose whether it trains on your chats.
Not a fit if you need something to answer the shop phone; it doesn’t.
