Microsoft 365 Copilot
Microsoft’s assistant inside Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams, which works from your own email and files.
- What it does
- An assistant built into Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. It drafts, sums up, and answers from the email, files, calendar, and chats you already have access to. Microsoft now calls it Microsoft Copilot.
- Who makes it
- Microsoft Corporation, Redmond, Washington.
- What it costs
- A basic web chat is free with an eligible Microsoft 365 business plan. The Copilot Business add-on is $18 per person a month paid yearly until December 31, 2026 (normally $21), or $25.20 monthly. Up to 300 people.
- Where your data goes
- Microsoft says your prompts, answers, and work files aren’t used to train its AI. It keeps your prompts and its answers; you can delete that history. Outside the EU, requests may be handled in the US, the EU, or elsewhere.
- What you need first
- A Microsoft 365 business plan (Basic, Standard, Premium, or Apps for business) and a card. There’s a one-month free trial that turns into a paid plan.
- Where it stands
- On sale now. Microsoft is renaming it, so its pages use both names.
- Who it suits
Good fit if the shop’s email and files already live in Microsoft 365.
Not a fit if you use Gmail and Google Drive, or don’t pay for Microsoft 365.
