- What it does
- A helper in the Gemini app that takes a job, works on it in the background, and can run on a schedule. In the app, you pick Task instead of Chat next to the typing box. Google called it Gemini Spark until October 2026.
- Who makes it
- Google LLC, Mountain View, California.
- What it costs
- Included with Google AI Pro ($19.99 a month) or Google AI Ultra (from $99.99 a month), within that plan’s limits. Not on the free plan or Google AI Plus.
- Where your data goes
- It only works with “Keep Activity” on, so Google may use your chats and tasks to improve its services, and people may review some. It can use a browser that Google runs to do the work. Your task history shows in Gemini Apps Activity.
- What you need first
- A personal Google account (not a work or school one), age 18 or older, Google’s Personal Intelligence setting turned on, and a Google AI Pro or Google AI Ultra plan. It is not offered in the UK, the EU, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, or Nigeria.
- Where it stands
- New, and Google calls it experimental. Google tested it as Gemini Spark from May 2026 and renamed it Tasks in Gemini in October 2026.
- Who it suits
Good fit if you already pay for Google AI Pro or Google AI Ultra and want a job done in the background, like watching prices or clearing out your inbox.
Not a fit if you need your business phone answered, you are on the free plan or Google AI Plus, or you sign in with a work Google account.
