What AI actually is

You’ll stop expecting it to know your business, and start telling it.

  1. It finishes your sentence

    The assistant read a huge pile of writing and learned which words tend to follow which. When you type, it predicts the most likely next words, over and over.

  2. It doesn’t look things up

    Unless it says it searched the web, it’s answering from patterns, not facts. That’s why it can sound sure and still be wrong.

  3. It knows nothing about you

    It has never seen your prices, your customers, or your calendar. If you don’t put it in the message, it isn’t there.

  4. Good input, good output

    Tell it who you are, what you want, and how long the answer should be. Most bad answers come from short questions.
