Step 2 of 8

How to start a chat

Pick one chat app, sign in, and start a new chat for each job. Four companies make the big ones.

About 4 minutes

You only need one chat app. A free plan is enough to start.

  1. Four companies, four chat apps

OpenAI makes ChatGPT. Anthropic makes Claude. Google makes Gemini. SpaceXAI (formerly xAI) makes Grok. Each has a free plan.

  2. Pick one and sign in

Use the one you already have. If you have none, any of the four is fine. Sign in with your work email so work chats stay in one place.

  3. A new chat for each job

Tap New chat before each customer or job. The app keeps each chat in a list on the side, so you can find it later.

  4. Type, send, then ask for changes

Type what you need and press send. If the answer misses, say what to change in the same chat.

  5. Leave the model setting alone

Each app lets you pick a faster or a smarter model. The setting it starts on is fine for texts and quotes.

Try it now

Open your chat app and sign in. Fill in the boxes below on this page and open a new chat with the finished prompt. Then reply with one change, like “shorter,” and watch it redo the answer.

Now you know

One chat app is enough. Start a new chat for each job, and ask for changes.
